E3 Business Awards 2019 took place on Thu 11th July 2019 view highlights

We follow a strict process to ensure transparency and integrity is maintained throughout and the right business wins the E3 Awards.

  • During judging, please keep phones on silent, and iPad’s/tablets/laptops out of sight.
  • Please keep any score sheets out of sight.
  • Judges may like, share and re-tweet finalists’ social media posts but no direct communication/tweets to any finalists is allowed. Except for Judges that have members and prior permission has been granted.
  • Please avoid communication with finalists during the refreshment breaks.
  • Business cards may not be handed out on the judging days.
  • Judges may contact finalists after the awards date via 1 Events Media.
  • Please appear professional and welcoming in front of all finalists.
  • All nominations will be emailed to Judges 2 weeks before the interview days, Judges will destroy and shred any entry forms and only bring the customised template ‘Judges Preparation Notes’ used for making notes and bring that to the interview day.
  • As a judge, please read the nomination entry forms to make notes. Hard copies will be provided on the day.
  • Please arrive with some pre-prepared questions to ask the finalists.
  • Judges will be expected to arrive by 9.15am on the day of the Interviews.
  • Chairs will have a briefing session with the judges before the interviews (9.30am-10.00am).
  • Chairs will contact all fellow judges by email/phone beforehand. 1EM will make the introductions.
  • 1EM to hand out the nomination forms for each category signed off by the Chair and collected before the start of the next award category. At no times will information be left publicly out in the room nor will be the room be left unattended.
  • At the end of the Award categories, all judges will hand pack any notes and the Nominations Information back to the Chair who will return it to 1 Events Media.
  • Judges should declare to the Chair and fellow Judges if they are connected to/know any of the finalists.
  • Having an existing connection does not mean you must not participate the interview; you can still score the candidate.
  • All Judges will score every finalist against each judging criterion and will get 20 minutes to review the award category finalists after completing the Interviews.
  • Chairs will collect all the scores and after debate will choose the winner.
  • Please help to give all finalists a positive experience and impression of the E3 Business Awards.
  • Please help all finalists to understand that reaching the interview stage is an important and impressive achievement. Please do this before the interview itself starts (30 seconds).
  • Please help all finalists to feel at ease and comfortable throughout the interview process.
  • The Chair will collect the finalists and see them out at the end of their respective sessions.
  • CHAIR: At the end of the interview, please close the session positively – with something along the lines of ‘Thank you for attending; it was a real pleasure to meet you. Congratulations for making it to this stage, and we look forward to seeing you again at the dinner.’
  • Please adhere strictly to time. To ensure fairness, all finalists will be given a maximum of 20 minutes. This to comprise a 10- minutes company overview and 10 minutes of Q&A from the judges.
  • To aid with timekeeping, the host will arrange for 2 knocks on the door:
  • 1 knock – At 10 minutes
  • 2 knocks – At the end of the 20 mins and door opens
  • Ensure questions are relevant to the award category.
  • Ask open-ended questions.
  • All judges are encouraged to ask questions.
  • Questions should be presented in a friendly and polite manner; the aim is to elicit information, not to test ‘performance under pressure’; please don’t ask any deliberately difficult or ‘trick’ questions.
  • Have a few back-up questions prepared.
  • Please use a score sheet to summarise your judgements after each interview – 60 seconds.
