A key feature of the E3 Business Awards is that they are intended to celebrate the positive impact that businesses have on local communities, as well as the economic prosperity of the region. Since the launch of the Awards in 2013, the organisers have always been keen to encourage entries from the broadest possible range of applicants, as 1EM managing director Mubarak Chati explains:

“E3 stands for Enterprise, Education and Employment. Those are the main factors that judges will be looking for – evidence that businesses and entrepreneurs are succeeding in commercial terms while also having a positive social impact.

“A thriving business or social enterprise means opportunities for people to get jobs, new skills and training, to apply innovative thinking and to deliver benefits for local communities. So we don’t just want to hear from successful mainstream businesses – we want to see entries from people from as many different backgrounds as possible. If North West entrepreneurs are producing good results – on and off the balance sheet – then the E3 Awards are ready to recognise that.”

Entrants can nominate themselves or they can be nominated by others. In either case, applications are submitted here, which provides a standard nomination form and more details about the judging criteria for each category.
