Eanam Wharf Businesses are Booming

Companies at Blackburn with Darwen Council’s business centre at Eanam Wharf are thriving in the current economic climate.

The fully-refurbished Grade II listed building and former canal warehouse on the banks of the Leeds Liverpool canal has 28 self-contained incubator units available to let in a managed environment.

The centre exists to help small to medium sized business start-ups. Tenants have use of additional facilities which include high speed wireless broadband, switchboard and reception service, clerical support and use of kitchen and meeting facilities. Conference and meeting facilities are also available for hire.

Two of the tenants 1 Events Media Ltd and Aldrock Surveyors have been recently recognised for their success and were congratulated by the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Councillor Zamir Khan during a visit.

1 Events Media Limited, an events management company, is celebrating after organising the prestigious E3 Business Awards at the Reebok Stadium. It was attended by over 700 people celebrating the entrepreneurship and success of North West businesses.

Managing Director, Mubarak Chati said “These may be challenging economic conditions but there are still many hard-working companies out there reporting growth in turnover, profits and the creation of new employment. It is these unsung heroes of the North West economy that the E3 Awards were founded to celebrate, the three Es stand for enterprise, education and employment – three factors that are critical to the region’s resurgence.”

Another tenant, Aldrock Surveyors, who have been steadily building their business at Eanam Wharf since September 2008, are a multi-disciplined Practice of Chartered Building Surveyors and Energy Assessors including Green Deal.

Due to their huge business growth and client service, they have been shortlisted for the Red Rose Business Award under the construction & Property category.

Councillor Dave Harling, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: “It is fantastic that Eanam Wharf is helping small and medium businesses to flourish. It is the perfect base for new start-ups and many outgrow their units quickly, moving onto bigger premises.”
